Doug Baer, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Baer received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida in 1983, and is a certified public accountant. Baer joined Brooks in May, 1991 as Vice President/Corporate Controller. In 1995 Baer was promoted to Chief Financial Officer. He held this position for six years until he became Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer in June 2001. The Board of Directors of Brooks Health System appointed Baer its President and CEO, effective October 1, 2002. Under his leadership, the 160-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital has been reorganized into Centers of Excellence, added a physician practice, and expanded the outpatient division into 35 sites, added rehabilitation management contracts and a joint venture. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Doug lives in Jacksonville Beach with his wife Laura and has three children.
Michael Spigel, President & Chief Operating Officer
Michael Spigel joined Brooks Health System in 2004 as the President of our Brooks Rehabilitation Network (19 outpatient centers). In June 2005, Michael was promoted to Chief Operating Officer for Brooks Health System. In 2014, Michael was promoted from Executive Vice President to President, in addition to his COO responsibilities. Michael has a Master of Health Administration degree from Chapman University in Orange County, CA, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland. He was a staff Physical Therapist for seven years at the University of Maryland/Montebello Rehabilitation Hospital in the Spinal Cord Injury Program. He was a clinical coordinator of the Spinal Cord Injury team at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC, and served the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose, CA, as a Supervisor on their Spinal Cord Injury Team. Michael has an in-depth, hands-on knowledge of healthcare system management and, in particular, post-acute-care settings.
Maria Interiano, Regional Director, Aging Services
Maria Interiano, NHA, MHSA, is Vice President, Aging Services, for Brooks Rehabilitation based in Jacksonville, Fla. She has worked in the long-term care setting of the health care vertical for more than 14 years. At Brooks, she held previous prominent roles including Regional Director of Aging Services, and she served as the Administrator for the skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility, memory care and housing. She holds a Masters degree in Executive Health Care Administration from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla. She is credentialed as a Physical Therapy Assistant and as a Nursing Home and Assistive Living Administrator.
Andy Andre, Administrator
Andy Andre is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator at Brooks University Crossing where he has worked for 2 years. Andy is a graduate of the University of North Florida where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Science of Health. Andy is most passionate about service and the ability to help those who need help.
Stephanie Killeen, Nurse Manager
Stephanie Killeen is the Nurse Manager at Bartram Lakes Assisted Living and Green House Residences which is included in the aging services division of Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Fla. She joined Brooks Rehabilitation in late 2018. Stephanie oversees all the daily nursing operations and is accountable for all nursing processes and practices within the Assisted Living Facility.
Previously, Stephanie was the Assistant Director of Nursing for a 120 bed skilled nursing facility. She was the facility educator, risk manager and there was an average of 140 employees at a time. Stephanie also assisted in heading the start of a successful in-house dialysis clinic. Stephanie graduated in 2013 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her nursing career has been dedicated to implementing best practices to ensure high quality care. Stephanie is a wife and mother of two beautiful children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying the sunshine and outdoors of Florida and traveling.
Vickie King, Admissions Manager
Vickie King started her career working with Seniors in 1982. Earning a degree in Gerontology has allowed her the opportunity to work in a variety of organizations. Her experience includes but is not limited to Home Health agencies, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing. Vickie came to Brooks in 2011 and has been with Bartram Lakes since we opened. Vickie works in marketing and admissions. She is a great resource to our residents and their families and helps facilitate every aspect of the move in process. Janet Giraitis, Receptionist
Janet decided to be a receptionist at Bartram Lakes after her experiences caring for her father who had suffered a stroke. After hearing about Bartram Lakes, Janet knew it was the right opportunity for her and would help fill the void she was left with when her father passed away. Now, Janet has many wonderful residents that fill her heart with joy!
